The eyelid area requires especially careful hygiene. Use only products specifically recommended for use around the eyes.
STEP-BY-STEP CARE
Protect your healing result
Follow each stage carefully. Keep the treated area clean, use only your artist’s recommended product and let all flaking release naturally.
01
EXTRA-GENTLE CARE
First 48 Hours
Wash your hands before touching the eye area.
Mild swelling, tenderness, tightness and light sensitivity may occur.
Use a cool compress over a clean, dry barrier for 5–10 minutes at a time. Do not place ice directly on the eyelids and do not press on the eyes.
Do not rub the lash line or force away any crusting.
Do not put cosmetic creams, antibiotic ointments or non-prescribed eye drops on the treated area.
Sleep on a clean pillowcase with your head slightly elevated to help minimize morning swelling.
Do not wear contact lenses for at least 48 hours and until the eyes feel completely normal. Wear clean glasses instead.
Avoid driving if swelling, light sensitivity or temporary blurred vision makes it unsafe.
02
EARLY HEALING
Days 2–10
Keep the lash line clean and avoid unnecessary touching.
Do not rub, scratch or pick at the eyeliner.
Allow all fine flakes and crusting to fall away naturally.
Do not pull on loose pieces of skin or pigment.
Avoid sleeping directly on your eyes.
Wear clean sunglasses outdoors to protect the area from sunlight, wind and dust.
03
USUALLY 7–10 DAYS
Avoid Until Fully Healed
Mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, eye primer and makeup remover on the treated area.
Eyelash curlers.
Strip lashes, individual lashes and eyelash extensions.
Lash-growth serums.
Lash tinting, lash lifting or other eyelash treatments.
Direct shower pressure and prolonged water exposure.
Swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes and ocean water.
Saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and heavy sweating.
Direct sunlight and tanning beds.
Facials, chemical peels, lasers or other treatments near the eyelids.
Once fully healed, begin with a new mascara and clean or sanitize reusable brushes and eyelash curlers before using them.
04
DO NOT WAIT
Seek Prompt Eye Care If You Experience
Moderate or severe eye pain.
Worsening pain or swelling instead of gradual improvement.
Blurred, reduced or changing vision.
Significant sensitivity to light.
Intense redness of the eyeball.

A persistent sensation that something is inside the eye.

Contact your artist and seek medical advice if you develop increasing redness, heat, swelling, worsening pain, pus, foul-smelling drainage, red streaks, fever or symptoms that become worse after initially improving.
Seek emergency care for difficulty breathing, facial or throat swelling, a rapidly spreading rash or any severe allergic reaction. Permanent makeup can rarely cause infection or allergic reactions, as noted by the FDA .
If you ever need an MRI, tell the radiologist or MRI technician that you have permanent makeup, especially permanent eyeliner.
