Brow lamination gives that brushed-up, fluffy look everyone loves, but repeating it again and again is hard on the hairs. A good laminating brow gel gives you the same look at home, every day, without the chemicals.

I created Soulu Brow Gel for exactly that. Here is how to use brow gel properly, with tips for every brow type.

Why Use a Brow Gel Instead of Lamination?

Brow lamination uses a chemical solution to reshape the hairs. Done often, it can dry them out and make the ends brittle and thin. Many of my clients were booking lamination every few weeks and wondering why their brows looked sparser over time.

A laminating brow gel holds the hairs in place instead of reshaping them, so you can style your brows the way you like every day. Compare both options in brow lamination vs brow gel.

What Makes Soulu Brow Gel Different

  • Lamination effect: brushes the hairs up and holds them in place all day.
  • Two-sided brush: a thicker side for full, thick brows and a smaller side for fine hairs and precise work.
  • No grease, no stickiness: the gel dries clean, without a sticky film or residue.
  • Gentle on the hairs: no chemical reshaping, so it is safe to use every day.

How to Use Brow Gel: Step by Step

  1. Start with clean, dry brows. Gel holds best on hairs without oil or skincare.
  2. Wipe off excess gel on the edge of the tube. Too much gel makes brows look stiff.
  3. Brush upward first, from the front of the brow, to lift the hairs.
  4. Then brush outward through the body and tail, following the shape you want.
  5. Use the tip of the brush to place any stray hairs.
  6. Let it set. One thin layer gives an immediate result that holds all day.

Tip: for more definition, tint light hairs first with Soulu Eyebrow Tint, then style them with the gel.

Brow Gel for Sparse Brows

Use the smaller side of the brush. Brush the hairs upward and slightly spread them to cover more skin, and place each hair with the tip of the brush. If gaps are still visible, permanent brows such as nanoblading add hair strokes where hairs are missing.

Brow Gel for Thick, Unruly Brows

Use the thicker side of the brush and work in sections: front, body, then tail. Brush firmly upward, then flatten the tops of the hairs slightly in the direction you want them to lie.

Brow Gel After Lamination

Brow gel works well after lamination: once the lamination has set, a thin layer keeps the hairs neat and in place. Follow your brow artist's instructions for the first day after lamination.

Brow Gel With Permanent Makeup

Over healed nanoblading or powder brows, the gel makes brows look brighter, fuller and more voluminous by styling your natural hairs over the pigment. If you have just had a permanent makeup procedure, wait until the brows have fully healed before using any brow products; see the eyebrow healing stages.

Common Mistakes

  • Applying too much gel, which makes brows stiff or clumpy;
  • Brushing only outward, which flattens the brows instead of lifting them;
  • Applying over oily skin or heavy skincare, which weakens the hold.

Your Brow Routine at Home

Together, Soulu Brow Gel and Soulu Eyebrow Tint cover most of what people book brow appointments for: color and shape. Tint every 4–6 weeks, style with gel every day, and your brows look done between studio visits.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you use brow gel?

Start with clean, dry brows, wipe excess gel off the brush, brush the hairs upward first, then outward, place stray hairs with the tip of the brush and let it set.

Can I use brow gel on permanent makeup brows?

Yes, once your brows have fully healed. Do not use any brow products while they are still healing.

Is brow gel better than brow lamination?

Brow gel gives a similar brushed-up look without chemically reshaping the hairs, so you can use it every day and change the shape whenever you like. Lamination lasts up to 6–8 weeks without daily styling.

Can I use brow gel after lamination?

Yes. Once the lamination has set, brow gel helps keep the hairs neat and in place.

Does Soulu Brow Gel feel sticky?

No. It dries clean, without a greasy or sticky feeling, and holds the hairs all day.

Where can I buy Soulu Brow Gel?

In the Soulu online shop.
